Notes

Gondwanaland was a supercontinent comprising South America, Africa, Antarctica, Arabia, Australia and India. Eduard Suess, a 19th-century Austrian geologist, coined the name as palaeozoic-era rocks and fossils in many parts of the southern hemisphere were similar to those found in Gondwana, India, thereby hinting at a connection.
