In 1842, Major General Charles Napier was commanded to quell a protracted rebellion in Sindh (now in Pakistan). He however exceeded his mandate and conquered the entire province. Once done, Napier is rumoured to have sent a telegram to his superiors with just one word, peccavi, Latin for "I have sinned".

The Durand Cup, Indian football's premier football tournament is named after Mortimer Durand, a British civil servant. So is the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan, the Durand Line.
In 1987, famed freedom fighter, Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, was awarded India's highest civilian honour, the Bharat Ratna. He was then a Pakistani national and thereby became the first non-Indian to be honoured so.
In 1990, the Nishan-e-Pakistan, the highest civilian honour bestowed by the government of Pakistan, was awarded to Morarji Desai. He is the only Indian to have been so honoured.
The highest point in India is the peak of Kangchenjunga at 8586m. Technically though, K2 at 8611m and situated in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, is India's highest point.
While Urdu is its national language, more people speak Punjabi and its dialects in Pakistan than any other language. In 1998, only 7.57% of the population were Urdu speakers.
