A popular dish of Kenya is Kachumbari, a fresh tomato and onion salad. The dish (and the word) is derived from the Hindi Kachumber (or Koshumbri).
The dish is also popular in other areas around the African Great Lakes which include Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Malawi, and Uganda.
