India's link language

Since every school in India teaches English, why can't it be our link language? Why do Tamils have to study English for communication with the world and Hindi for communications within India? Do we need a big door for the big dog and a small door for the small dog? I say, let the small dog use the big door too!

India's rashtrabhasha

It is claimed that Hindi should be the common language because it is spoken by the majority. Why should we then claim the tiger as our national animal instead of the rat which is so much more numerous? Or the peacock as our national bird when the crow is ubiquitous?

Power of Love

In 2022, the village of Ganeshpur in Bihar, found itself facing frequent 2-3 hour power cuts after sunset. It turned out that the cause of this was an electrician who turned off the electricity supply because he wanted to visit his girlfriend under the cover of darkness.

Neutralising the press

Like the god Vishnu, my press will have a hundred arms, and these arms will stretch out their hands throughout the country delicately giving form to all manner of opinion. Everyone will belong to my party without knowing it. Those who think they are speaking the language of their party will be acting for mine. Those who think they are marching under their own banner will be marching under mine.

Suny Delhi

The seat of Delaware county in the state of New York, USA, is the town of Delhi. It is named after India's capital city as its founder, an Ebenezer Foote, was nicknamed, "The Great Mogul". Delhi, NY is pronounced "Del-hy" and is also home to a State University of New York or SUNY Delhi.

In the Madras (Chennai) of British India, people synced their clocks to a cannon fired daily at 4 PM in Fort St. George.

I have sinned

In 1842, Major General Charles Napier was commanded to quell a protracted rebellion in Sindh (now in Pakistan). He however exceeded his mandate and conquered the entire province. Once done, Napier is rumoured to have sent a telegram to his superiors with just one word, peccavi, Latin for "I have sinned".
