Ledikeni, a Gulab Jamun-like Bengali sweet, was named after Lady Canning, the popular wife of Governor General Canning. It is apparently a slightly larger version of the Pantua.
The "invention" of the Ledikeni is credited to Bhim Chandra Nag who continues to live on as a famous establishment in Kolkata.
Charles Canning was the last Governor General of the East India Company and the first Viceroy of India.
